GoPro has finally announced two new models, Hero5 Black which is priced at $399 and the Hero5 Session priced at $299. You would not have to wait for long, as the action cameras would be up for sale starting October 2.
The Hero5 Black captures 12-megapixel images that too in RAW format, and it also features a wide dynamic range mode. Whereas the Hero5 Session clicks 10-megapixel photos but does not feature the Raw format and the wide dynamic range mode. A linear view setting has been introduced on both the models, which corrects the distortion in wide-angle photos and videos.
GoPro Hero5 Black has been designed for one button operation and has dedicated button for photo and video recording. It also featured a 2-inch touchscreen with updated touch interface.
Hero5 Black and Hero5 Session both are waterproof up to 33 feet (10 meters), that too without a waterproof housing. It is not that these are the only waterproof action cameras by GoPro, but the fact that now you do not need the waterproof case is in itself a great move.
Electric Image Stabilization
Both the newly announced action cameras feature professional-grade electronic image stabilization. Though it looks promising, let’s see if is able to prove that during field tests.
As in the case of Hero4 Black, the Hero5 Black can also record videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. But htis is a great leap for the GoPro Session series as the Hero5 Session also comes with 4K compatibility at 30 FPS.
You can record a video or capture a photo by simply giving a command to your GoPro Hero5 Black or Session. To record a video, you simply have to say “GoPro start video” and to capture a photo you have to say “GoPro take a photo”.
You can upload, edit and share your video/image (clicked using the GoPro Hero5 Black or Session) using your phone or computer wit hthe help of GoPro Plus, a cloud-based subscription service.
GoPro Plus Service
Now photos and video automatically upload to the cloud when the camera is charging, and once they’re uploaded, users can edit them using GoPro Plus. This subscription will also give you access to a vast library of music which can be used as backdrop music in your footage.
