sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary

Sigma has announced the 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lens, a new wide-angle prime lens for Sony E-mount Mirrorless as well as Micro Four Thirds cameras. Sigma claims that the quality of this new lens would be at par with the ART series lenses which has been the main focus of the brand in the recent years.

After the launch of Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN lens last year, this is the second Contemporary f/1.4 prime lens for mirrorless cameras. Sigma has also announced that there are plans to introduce a telephoto lens to the lineup of Contemporary lenses.

The Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary lens is compatible with Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras such as a6300 and a6500 and the Micro Four Thirds cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix G7 and Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III. So on a Sony E-mount mirrorless camera this lens will give an effective focal length of 24mm, being the world’s first interchangeable lens for Sony E-mount APS-C format mirrorless cameras. On a Micro Four Thirds camera, this lens would offer effective focal length of 32mm.

There is no official statement about the pricing as well as the selling date of the Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary.
