Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM lens, the first EF-M Macro Lens for the Canon EOS M Camera System (mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras) has been officially announced today by Canon.
This macro lens has been specially designed for Canon EOS M camera system and when mounted on the mirrorless crop-frame body, provides a 45mm equivalent angle of view. The most attractive feature of Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM lens is a pair of built-in miniature Macro Lite electronic flash units placed on the front element of this lens. These flash units can be turned on to illuminate the subject as well as freeze the moment to get sharp results.
A switch on the lens allows you to shoot macro photos with magnification ranging from 1x to 1.2x (super macro mode).
The Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM lens features Hybrid Image Stabilization which lets you click sharp handheld photos. STM (stepping motor) results in smooth focus and produces very less noise while recording videos.
The Canon EF-M 28mm f/3.5 Macro IS STM lens will start shipping in June and will be priced at $300.
