Being a photographer and a photography blogger, I shoot multiple photos and videos whenever I am out for a photo shoot or reviewing products. I shoot using a DSLR as well as a smartphone, and sometimes I even edit my DSLR clicks using my smartphone.
Nowadays the cameras being of higher megapixels tend to occupy more space in the memory card and it gets very annoying to use multiple memory cards or to transfer data very frequently.
This is when the 256 GB Samsung MicroSDXC EVO Plus Memory Card comes to rescue and has helped me in the past 2 weeks during the period of my use. Huge storage space helps me easily shoot photos and videos without worrying about the memory card running out of space. I have been using the 128GB and 256GB variant and I am still left with some space in both the memory card, even after shooting so many photos and videos.
Helps Store Portfolio
With storage capacity such as 128 GB and 256 GB, the Samsung MicroSDXC EVO Plus Memory Cards can be used to store your photography portfolio including photos and videos. The read speed of up to 100MB/s does work really fast and loads the photos and videos instantly with negligible lag, whereas while using my previous card the lag was significant especially while opening heavy files.
DSLR-Phone Connect
Being a photographer you have to regularly upload photos on social media platforms, sometimes you may have to do it instantly. Apps such as Snapseed, Adobe Lightroom and Polarr are the photo editing apps that I frequently use to edit my photos clicked using my Canon 5D Mark iii DSLR camera.
Previously I had to plugin my SD/CF memory card into the card reader and then transfer the files to my smartphone memory card via laptop or using the OTG adapter on the phone. As the EVO Plus memory card comes with an adapter, all I have to do is transfer the memory card from the DSLR to my phone and it’s done. The write speed of up to 90MB/s did a good job in recording photos at a fast rate, though there was a bit of lag while shooting on burst mode because of the adapter.
Record and play 4K UHD video
With fast read and write speeds of up to 100MB/s and 90MB/s respectively, the EVO Plus memory card allows you to shoot 4K video without any compromise. So if you are a frequent traveler and are fond of recording 4K videos on your action camera, the 128GB or 256GB variant of EVO Plus series is a great choice as it is a perfect mix of huge storage capacity and fast write speed.
Final Verdict: Samsung EVO Plus Memory Card
I have been using the Samsung EVO Plus 128GB and 256GB memory cards for the past 15 days, both in my smartphone as well as in my DSLR camera. As I mentioned above, these cards come with an adapter which lets you use them in DSLR camera and back to your smartphone. This is how I manage to immediately transfer my DSLR clicks to the smartphone, edit them on apps such as Snapseed and Polarr and then upload them on social media.
The read and write speed on the smartphone is swift, however the write speed on DSLR camera was a bit slow maybe because I am used to my 160MB/s CF card. However, the storage capacity is the key USP here as I can keep on shooting without even transferring the data for 8-10 shoots.
The Samsung Evo Plus 256GB UHS-I MicroSDXC Memory Card with Adapter costs around Rs. 12,000 and the 128GB variant costs around Rs. 6,000. The price is a bit on a higher side, but then the storage capacity and the read and write speed that you get is superior.
