The Zenmuse X7 by DJI is the world’s first Super 35mm camera which is optimized for aerial cinematography and photography. The camera is compatible with Inspire 2 drone, and with this camera DJI introduces the DL-Mount which is the world’s first integrated aerial lens mount that allows switching between four available prime lenses.
DJI has alongside announced these four new prime lenses for the Zenmuse X7, 16mm, 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm lenses, each with a maximum aperture of f/2.8.
These lenses are made up of carbon fiber, thus they are bound to be durable and lightweight for drone use. The 16mm lens comes with a built-in ND 4 filter, while the other three lenses have a mechanical shutter.
The Zenmuse X7 features a 24 MP CMOS sensor which is capable of shooting at both 6K/30FPS Cinema DNG and 5.2K/59.94FPS Apple ProRes, and it also supports continuous RAW burst shooting at 20 fps and you can capture 24 MP stills as well. This 24MP camera has a dynamic range of 14 stops which helps in preserving astonishing details and shall enable one to shoot in high contrast lighting conditions.
As DJI claims, to help you with seamless editing, the Zenmuse X7 comes with a new DJI Cinema Color System which preserves accurate colors for easier post-processing.
DJI claims that the Zenmuse X7 has 23-minute flight time with the DJI Inspire 2.
The DJI Zenmuse X7 camera shall be made available in early November 2017 with a price tag of $2,700, while the 16mm, 24mm and 35mm lenses shall be available for $1,300 and the 50mm lens for a price tag of $1,200.
