The Moto G5 Plus has finally been launched in India, after a couple of weeks being introduced at the MWC 2017. Being a photographer, my eyes were on the official camera specifications of this device and as expected they are really impressive.

The Moto G5 Plus features a 12 MP rear camera which shoots at f/1.7, which promises to capture photos with shallow depth of field. At this cost, being able to click photos using a mobile camera at f/1.7 is simply amazing.

Coming to my favourite part, the camera image sensor of Moto G5 Plus is as big as 1/2.5″ resulting in pixel size of 1.4µm. One of the best camera specs in this prize segment, without any doubt. On the basis of specs, I can say that this camera will perform brilliantly even in the low-light conditions because of the big pixel size.

This image sensor in this smartphone also features Dual pixel AF, a technology that is present in Samsung Galaxy S7 camera. This basically uses every pixel for phase detection focus, resulting in fast and accurate focus. “The new Moto G Plus is the first camera in its class with Dual Auto Focus Pixels. Utilizing 10 times more pixels on the sensor, the camera is able to lock onto a subject up to 60% faster than Moto G4 Plus”, as mentioned on the official website.

All in all, the Moto G5 Plus camera is almost similar to that of Samsung Galaxy S7 minus optical image stabilization. But if you look at the cost, it is almost one-third.

Moto G5 Plus 3GB RAM + 16GB internal storage variant is available for Rs 14,999, whereas the 4GB RAM + 32GB internal storage variant is available for Rs 16,999.

As per the specs, this device is going to be a killer camera phone and I would definitely try to get my hands on it as soon as possible. With dual pixel AF, the ability to shoot at f/1.7 and pixel size as big as 1.4µm, this is the best smartphone in this price segment for camera use.
