Sigma 24-35mm f/2 Art: world’s first f/2 zoom lens

Sigma 24-35 mm

In the year 2013, Sigma introduced a lens which amazed the photography world. They introduced the one of its kind 18-35mm f/1.8 zoom lens for APS-C cameras, with super fast aperture. The full frame camera users were feeling ignored, but recently Sigma gave them a big reason to make them feel special.

Recently, Sigma has announced the world’s fastest constant f/2.0 wide-angle zoom lens for full frame cameras under its Art series and it is known as: Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM Art.

The focal length range might sound a bit odd to you, but Sigma promises that this beauty can easily replace three most used focal lengths: 24mm, 28mm and 35mm and will bring together three prime lenses into a single lens.

Talking about the technicalities, the brand new Sigma 24-35mm f/2.0 lens uses the ‘F’ Low Dispersion glass element as well as seven SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements which help in reducing distortion and aberrations. To give some killer bokeh, this diaphragm of this lens is designed with 9 rounded blades. To reduce ghosting and flares, the elements of this lens also has the Super Multi-Layer Coating. So, to round it up, this lens consists of 18 lens elements situated in total 13 groups.

If you are a street photographer, here is a reason to cheer you up. The Sigma 24-35mm f/2.0 lens also supports a physical focus distance scale to help you zone focus away while you are clicking those awesome frames in streets.

Another plus point of this killer lens is that the closest focusing distance is only 11 inches (28 cm), which comes with a maximum magnification of 1:4.4 which makes this lens perfect for close-up shots.

Coming from the Art series, it is obvious that the Sigma 24-35mm lens is built to stay with you for a longer period of time as it weights 940g (33.2 oz.).

The one of its kind Sigma 24-35mm f/2.0 lens will be sold in Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts. Sounds exciting?

Talking about the availability of the lens, Sigma is yet to announce the date of launch. The big question here is the price tag of the lens, which is yet to come out. Any guesses on the price tag of this beauty lens?
