If you thought that the grand wedding celebrations now days is the big thing, then this post might make you think twice. Who could have thought that way back in the year 1954, a couple spent the most precious moment of their life in the water, as they got married to each other during an underwater wedding ceremony.
To add to your excitement, the groom Bob Smith was an underground clown and the bride Mary Beth Sanger was a professional synchronized swimmer. Sounds adventurous, right? Moreover, the guests and the relatives were seated in an underwater observation room, where they witnessed one of the most unusual underwater wedding ceremony.
Wondering how they managed to look perfectly dressed even after being underwater? Well, they had every thing planned in advance. The trick behind this was that Mary had attached diving weights to her wedding dress to avoid it from floating up and Bob used waxed cardboards inside the shirt to make it look stiff.
Time to check out the timeless underwater wedding photos from the 50s.
