SanDisk has recently announced two new 256GB microSD cards: SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition card and SanDisk Extreme microSDXC UHS-I card. As claimed by SanDisk, there two are the fastest microSD cards in the world till date. These cards have been announced keeping in mind the increasing use of drones, action cameras and smartphones which demand high storage capacity and faster transfer speed.
The 256GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I card is the fastest as it offers up to 100MB/s of transfer speed and up to 90MB/s of writing speed. Following it is the Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition card which features maximum transfer speed of 95/MB/s.
One of the main reasons the Extreme microSDXC UHS-I card will be purchased by videographers is the fact that it can hold up to 14 hours of 4K video recording. Though the Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition card is not best suited for 4K recording, but can store more than 24 hours of full HD video recording.
Talking about additional features, both these cards by SanDisk are waterproof, shock proof and x-ray proof. Both these cards would be launched separately. The Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition card being released globally in the month of August with a price tag of $149.99, whereas the Extreme microSDXC UHS-I card will be out in the global market for $199.99 during the fourth quarter of this year.
